AKDesigns Boutique Weekend Update 10/22/2010

Hello Everyone!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend here in GA! We have our last tennis match of the season and our end of season tennis party planned, so we should be able to take full advantage of the nice weather.

Breast Cancer Awareness

I've had a super busy week working on some things for breast cancer awareness. Me and one of my best friends, Lou, are going to walk in either the Atlanta 2-Day Walk or the Susan G Komen 3-Day walk in 2011. We're working on creating a team and I've created a logo that's in it's final stages. I will create digitized designs and vector artwork [for vinyl cutting] that are breast cancer related and add them to the website. ALL profits from the items that are breast cancer awareness related will go towards my fundraising efforts for the walk. I participated in the Atlanta 2-Day walk 2 years ago and it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend participating if there is a walk your area and you are physically able.

Yahoo Group Free Monthly Designs

Okay - no one has complained, but I'm sure some of you have noticed - I haven't posted a free design since May!! I'm shocked at how much time can go by without even realizing it. I think about the free design all the time and I know it's something that everyone looks forward to, so I feel so bad that I'm so neglectful. I've decided that I will continue to post free designs, but without any promises of when so that I can relieve myself of some stress and guilt that I don't necessarily need. Because of my neglectfulness, I will be thinking about what I can give away for free that will help make it up to all of you that are so incredibly patient with me! :)

AKDesigns Boutique Weekly Update 10/6/2010

Wow - we missed Fall here in GA! The weather went straight from hot, sticky summer to cold, toe numbing winter in a matter of days. Has anyone else missed Fall? Are you all ready for Halloween? I've added a couple of new Halloween designs, and I have more on the way and hope to get them up soon.

Website Updates - Have you been to the AKDesigns Boutique website in the last few days? I've made a ton of changes/updates, so please let me know what you think. If you ever run into problems while you're on my website, please let me know so that I can try to fix them. Or, if you just see something that doesn't make sense or is a bit confusing, let me know that too - sometimes I'll add something that makes total sense to me because I know what I'm thinking, but it really doesn't make any sense at all! LOL!! Thanks in advance for your help!!

• I didn't realize that my pages were too wide for probably 80% of my customers, so the "add to cart" section on the item detail page was off the screen to the right and they could only see it if they scrolled to the right. There are still a few pages that need to be updated, but the page width should be much better for most pages.
• Removed "Add to Cart" from a few places that were causing unnecessary confusion. First, on the product list page where the category search results display, second in the "You may be interested in these items" section at the bottom of the product detail page, and third in the featured items section on the Home Page. The buttons weren't really helping anyway because you can't add most items directly to your cart, so pressing it would just take you to the detail page for that item so that you could make the necessary selections and actually add the item to your cart [i.e. Download or CD and the format needed, etc.].

I wanted to let everyone know that I take customer requests for new designs and fonts. Customer requests are actually what drives a lot of my designing. Keep in mind that I have to pay for the rights to digitize the artwork and fonts that I don't create myself. That being said, some font foundries and artists want too much $$ for those rights, so I can't digitize their fonts or artwork, but some are very reasonable. Affiliate Program and Monogram Wizard Plus Alpha Paks

I hope everyone has something fun planned for the weekend! If not, you can spend some time joining my new Affiliate Program or just shopping @ AKDesigns Boutique :) I have few updates I wanted to share with you and didn't want to wait until Monday's Weekly Update.

First, I just started a 30% Off All Embroidery Designs Sale to celebrate getting the Affiliate Program all set up. No coupon code is needed, because the discount is already marked. Sale is good now thru 10/19 at midnight.

Second, I took some time researching how Affiliate Programs work since a few of my Yahoo Group members had asked me when I was going to offer it. :) I have to admit that I'm not currently signed up as an affiliate with any companies, so the idea of the whole process was a little overwhelming. I didn't really understand how it worked or what I would need to do on my side to make it work. After much research, I decided to get started! It's a very simple process ~ Just follow the steps below to start earning your 5% commission! Please let me know if you have any questions about how this works or if you have any problems signing up.

1. Click Here ~ Affiliate Program
2. Complete the Required Fields and hit submit. NOTE: Make sure your e-mail address is correct because you will receive a confirmation e-mail with important information.
   
3. Once you hit submit, two things happen; first, you are taken to a confirmation page that includes all of the website link information you need, and second, a confirmation e-mail is sent to you with the same information.
4. Be sure to copy the website links from the confirmation page or the confirmation e-mail and paste them into a document that you can save for future reference.
5. Add the link of your choice to your website, blog, facebook page, send it in a tweet or add it to your e-mail signature.
   
6. That's all you have to do! Your customers or friends will follow the link and when they buy stuff, you make money!
   
7. I'll run a report mid-month and pay commissions for the previous month. Commissions will be paid with AKDesigns Boutique Store Credit or paid to your paypal account - it's up to you.
